Benefit to be held for local man

A Beach Bash benefit will be held Aug. 15 at Zephyr Cove Resort for a community member who suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Sean Riley, an off-road tour guide for Lake Tahoe Adventures suffered the injury as a result of a succession of blackouts and falls. He was hospitalized for all of July, but returned home Aug. 1. Riley currently has issues with comprehension and memory and will have to undergo extenive therapy, home supervision and care - all of which is expensive.

The benefit will be held from 5-8 p.m. at Zephyr Cove Resort. Proceeds will be put toward Riley's care expenses, which the family anticipates may be mas much as $2,000 per day until his condition improves. A barbecue dinner, live music, a no-host bar, auctions and a raffle will all be part of the event.

Riley and his wife, Georgette, who works for Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and the TahoeChamber, have contributed time and resources to organizations including the National Ski Patrol, Tahoe Rim Trail and Bread and Broth.
