Barbara Ellen Day Brown, 38 year resident of Incline Village, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the age of 61 after a year long battle with uterine cancer.
Barbara was born in Wooster, Ohio, August 28th, 1950 to the late Wilford and Martha Jeanne Day. Barbara graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1972 with a degree in psychology. Barbara moved to Incline Village in 1974 where she sold real estate for 9 years. She then worked as Christian education director at the Village Presbyterian Church for 15 years. Most recently, she worked as a caretaker.
She is best known for teaching “Goodnews Clubs” for children the past 22 years. She was married to Gary Brown, also resident of Incline Village, for 30 years.
She was an active, loving and enthusiastic women who enjoyed skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, hiking and taking her dog Booker to the dog park. Barbara was a dedicated Christian with an amazing faith and was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter Christina Brown Martini and son-in-law Aaron Martini of Fort Collins, CO; her brothers Dave Day of Tampa FL, Bill Day of Canton OH and Jeff Day of Massillon, Ohio.
Public services are planned at The Village Presbyterian Church Tuesday, Aug 14th at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship at CEF of Northern California, PO Box 47, Union City, California, 94587.
