Village Notes: What’s happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Can you feel it? The annual charge of kids back to school is happening. Many of the schools down in the lower elevations started this week and Incline begins on Monday. Watch for children and expect to see more out and about on our streets.Even if you do not have children going back to school, you can help Incline Schools receive a little extra cash. Go to and vote for an Incline school. For every 25 votes received, Target awards the school principal a $25 gift card. Thanks for supporting our local schools.Time is running out to attend the annual PEO Taste of Incline from 4:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, at The Chateau. In case you need a reason to attend other than great food and wine, one of the live auction items is a 2002 bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild! Hurry to get your tickets as this event sells out early. Tickets can be purchased at the Potlatch or by calling 775-831-8330.Get ready for Dog Day in the Park on Sept. 8 at the North Tahoe Regional Park. Don’t forget the town hall meeting to hear the Community Assessment report prepared by the Nevada Rural Development Council. The following ladies all placed in the 2012 Women’s Championships held in June at the Bowling Stadium: Beth Lyons, Millie Carter, Debbie Burgoyne, Ursula Lipkowitz, Patti Smevik, Teri Fitzpatrick and Leanne Thorne.
