A tribute to John Lennon and#8212; and#8216;I hope someday you'll join us'

INCLINE VILLAGE — It's time to drag out your beads, bellbottoms and tie-dyed tank tops and wear them to the 32nd anniversary of the Requiem for John Lennon.

You've sung “Yesterday” and “Imagine” in the shower and in your car. Now join Maestro James Rawie and Friends, a soft rock band, and the singers of the Toccata chorus in a walk down memory lane as you relive some of The Beatles' music in a “Classical Requiem” format interspersed with five centuries of Mozart, madrigals, motets and folk-rock music.

The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20 at Sand Harbor State Park just south of Incline Village. This is the only performance of the 32nd Requiem for John Lennon ... from Bach to Rock, presented by Toccata — Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Tickets are $80, $42 and $25, sold through the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival box office: or 800-74-SHOWS.

For more information visit Toccata at or call 775-313-9697. This concert is supported by a grant from the Kling Family Foundation.

Toccata continues its Summer MusicFest Sept. 12-16 with the 11th anniversary commemorating the 9/11 tragedy. The German Requiem by Johannes Brahms will be presented with soloists Joy Strotz and Anna Helwing, soprano; and Stuart Duke, baritone. Guest violinist Elizabeth Pitcairn with the legendary “Red Stradivarius Violin” joins the Tahoe Symphony for the Brahms Violin Concerto in D major.
