Storm clouds may have briefly threatened the Beach Bash Benefit festivities at Zephyr Cove Resort on Wednesday, but nothing could dampen the spirits of the many friends who turned out to support local community members Sean and Georgette Riley. More than 100 friends, family and community members turned out to support the Rileys, helping generate more than $15,000 in donations. Attendees enjoyed a lakefront barbecue buffet and live music from Deep Fryed Mojo, along with a raffle, silent and live auction. Local personality Dreu Murin emceed both the event and the live auction, and helped generate some impressive bids for unique items.
Sean, an off-road tour guide for Lake Tahoe Adventure, is recovering from a traumatic brain injury as a result of a succession of blackouts and falls. He is doing well, but still has some issues with comprehension and memory as a result of the injury, and has a long road to recovery requiring extensive therapy, home supervision and care. The Beach Bash Benefit fundraiser was organized to help him pay for continued medical and therapeutic care costs.
This event could not have succeeded without the help and donations of so many businesses and individuals. Aramark/Zephyr Cove Resort's generous contribution to this event meant that $25 of every ticket sold went directly to assisting Sean. Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce, where Georgette works, provided tremendous support and event organization. Thanks to the entire staff of both organizations, as well as the volunteers of Bread & Broth who helped at the event.
Enormous thanks must also be given to the many individuals and businesses that provided generous donations.
Finally, thanks to all the friends, family and community members who came out and supported Sean and Georgette.
