The band Sugarland gave and received a lot of loving gifts from its truest fans at a concert at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys Aug. 18 in Stateline.
Flowers and balloons were carried to the stage and the singers read outloud big posters which came from their audience.
The band took its time to give some honorable mentions during the concert.
One of the posters read, "Hello, I've been waiting for tonight since 2003. What I would give to stand next to you, Jennifer."
Another fan, introduced as Casey, said he was performing a Sugarland song at his school's talent show.
Fans were given the chance to vote and send texts before the party started for their favorite songs to be played.
Lead singers Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush started off with their most well-known song, "Stuck Like Glue," with fans singing along every word of the lyrics.
Nettles, who is pregnant with her first child and is due sometime around Thanksgiving, told her audience her doctor said women who don't live in altitude who are pregnant come to altitude. "Really?," Nettles wondered, and joked about running up and down on the stage during her concert.
"It's interesting. Exercising - I said what constitute is exercise?"
The Nashville-based band played songs such as "Stand Up" or "Tonight" from its latest album, "The Incredible Machine," which was released in 2010.
Eight-year-old Mya from Glenwood City, Wis., was invited on stage with Sugarland to help perform "Everyday America."
Many of the songs Sugarland played were about everyday situations people can identify themselves with or love and the beginning of a relationship, like the song "Want To", a heartfelt love song.
Another surprise for the attending guests was a guitar which was given to one of the fans in the audience.
As a background for the show, the band simply used a hand print image in different colors.
"Sugarland doesn't need really big show effects or light effects, the singers just impress with their pure voices and performances," South Lake Tahoe resident Tara Glickman said.
