Incline tennis | Girls open season with dramatic win

The Incline girls’ tennis team opened the season with an exciting win at Spanish Springs on Tuesday.

Incline freshmen Anne Schrage joined senior co-captains Ginetta Sagan and Toby Felman in winning all three of their singles matches to contribute nine points to the victory.

The perennially strong Spanish Springs doubles teams won all nine of the doubles points, although senior Tara Lincoln and freshmen Amanda Pretti played some close sets.

The match went to the 6 tiebreaker format to decide a winner, and the Highlanders prevailed 4-2, with all the singles players winning their tiebreakers. Senior Kassidy Garland and Alexandra Cole delivered the decisive victory.

“What a great way to start the season,” said Incline coach Jim Giancola. “We had a solid effort from everyone in windy and hot conditions. We still have work to do, and our new players, as well as our veterans, need to continue to work hard and improve as the season progresses.”
