Village Notes: Whatand#8217;s happening in our community

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — The last big weekend of the summer is this weekend and now is the time to get out there and enjoy Tahoe like a tourist. Goodbye summer friends.

The end of summer parties will soon give way to the pray for snow parties. I think Heather Bacon at the Biltmore already has one scheduled and let’s hope snow will come early and often.

And with winter coming, everyone is getting into new activities. For all locals who are from Minnesota, a Minnesota Club is forming. If you are from Minnesota and want information, contact Jane Barnhart at 775-657-0113 or email jeanmeick@aol.com.

Mark Twain brought the house down at the Rec. Center on Monday evening. Great to have old Twain out there at some new venues. Remember other fall things, like co-ed indoor soccer league, youth swim lessons and more all begin in September at the Rec. Center.

Don’t forget Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Tahoe Regional Park is the Dog Day in the Park event. It includes a raffle and you do not have to be present to win one of the great prizes. For information call Pam at 530-546-4770 or email dogdayinthepark.tahoe@gmail.

And of course Incline’s favorite event for dog owners, is the Dog Days of Fall, on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Burnt Cedar Pool. Don’t worry, the pool closes for the season on Tuesday, Sept. 4, so swimmers will only be four-legged and this is a great event to watch even if you don’t have a dog. It really is the most fun event in the village.

Looks like the hole-in-one group continues to collect at the Mountain golf Course. Celebrating the great event: Forrest Dodge had one on Hole #6 on July 27; Richard Benedict on #15 on Aug. 15; Veronica Devenish on #3 on Aug. 25 and Marliese Baltimore on #3 on Aug. 27. Congratulations!

Bowling news features the first tournament of the season on Sept. 15 at Silver Strikes Lane in Gardnerville. It is a 9-pin No Tap and everyone is invited to take part as they are raising funds for the Bowlers to Veterans link. The event is chaired by Ronnie Rector.

It is August and I know Paul Reynolds’ birthday is this month, just don’t know when, so let’s wish him a Happy Birthday. Other birthdays to celebrate: Patricia Aiello on Aug. 31; Gene Brockman on Sept. 1; Lisa Severian Donahue on Sept. 2 and Darel Barlow on Sept. 3. Happy Birthday.

For deals and steals this week head to Crosby’s on Tuesday to enjoy sloppy joes and fries. This is a real steal for only $6.99.

As always send in your birthdays, anniversaries and news, along with the best deals and steals you can find, to jeanmeick@aol.com.
