Herta Suter, 73 of Truckee, California passed away September 4, 2012 in Truckee.

Born to Josef and Sophie Schleser on July 6 in Hausdorf, CSR. She lived there until the age of 6 when her family fled to Germany because of World War II. There she went to school, and worked until she met and married her life long partner; Josef Suter on February 8, 1958 in Germany. Soon thereafter they immigrated to the United States in pursuit of the American Dream.

They moved to Floriston in 1959 and lived there for 18 years; then moved to Truckee and resided there until the present day. She played a major role in the success of Joe Suter Construction. She was a member of the Sierra, Ripon and Newark Swiss Clubs.

Herta was a woman of few words, but her gestures revealed her heart. She was happiest at home surrounded by and caring for her family. Her greatest joy was making Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas the most special and memorable days of the year. Herta and Josef came from very humble beginnings but through hard work they were able to travel the world including numerous trips to their homelands of Switzerland and Germany. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will be greatly missed.

Herta is survived by her husband of 54 years Josef L. Suter, her sister Ingrid Rauch (Gersthofen, Germany) her three children Josef Jr., Herbert and Silvia, her 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
