Two teens charged with burglary, vandalism

Police arrested two juveniles and are looking for one more after they allegedly discovered the boys hiding in a closet and stolen spray paint and markers used for graffiti during a probation search.

On Sept. 7, police responded to a burglary at an art supply store in South Lake Tahoe. During the investigation, officers were told that cash and about $3,000 worth of spray paint and markers had been stolen. On Sept. 8, police received calls from victims stating that buildings, signs and vehicles had been tagged with graffiti. The damage to property was estimated to be thousands of dollars.

Investigators received information that led to a home on Silver Dollar Avenue, police said. They conducted a probation search of the residence and reportedly found two boys, ages 16 and 15, hiding in a closet. They also located spray paint and markers taken during the burglary, police said. The boys admitted to being involved in the burglary and one admitted to tagging buildings, signs and vehicles, police said. Police are still looking for a third juvenile who was allegedly involved.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call South Lake Tahoe Police Department at 542-6100 or Secret Witness at 541-6800.
