KINGS BEACH, Calif. and#8212; The after burn flowed from the playa to heat up the North Tahoe Event Center outdoor, lakeside stage at the Lake Tahoe Flow Arts Festival.

The three-day festival included hoop, poi, staff, juggling, aerial silks, SUP, dance and yoga workshops, spin jams, and an evening performance by international acts, many traveling straight from Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert.

Feathers, face paints, circus-inspired costumes ruled at the free-form festival. Flow arts are about immersion in a meditative yet active state, finding your groove and losing yourself in it. The combination of lithe dancers in an aerial triangle using silks and hoops, farcical comics and mind-blowing fire dancers lit up faces of young, old, and families. Sunset on Lake Tahoe, with clouds washed purple from our star's solar footlight, provided an enchanting backdrop, until night fell and the stage was black, other than tiki torches and the dancers fire sticks, hoops, staffs and toys.

As one dancer was introduced, performing with a broken arm sustained in a mountain biking accident the concept of flow arts was captured: It is about finding a door closed, and seeking the other, open door into your creativity and imagination. It is about the infinite possibilities your mind, body and spirit together present. It is about magic.
