TRUCKEE, Calif. — The High Fives Foundation is happy to announce the 4th Annual Bocce Tournament presented by Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows, GoPro and the Truckee River Winery. Register today for the Sunday, Sept. 23 event in person at the CR Johnson Healing Center, online at highfivesfoundation.org/index.php/events/bocce or by calling 530-562-4270. The cost to participate is $100 per two-person team. Space is limited to the first 40 teams to register. Teams will compete for amazing prizes and bragging rights while raising funds for winter action sports athletes that have suffered a life-altering injury.
“The High Fives Foundation is an event-driven nonprofit that hosts five marquee events annually; one of which is the Bocce Tournament,” said Roy Tuscany, co-founder and executive director, High Fives Foundation. “To watch the tournament grow in size, popularity and fun each year is a dream come true. Funds raised directly improve the Foundation’s respective program services and its ability to provide financial assistance to winter action sports athletes who have suffered a traumatic injury.”
“This is a great tournament that brings together both young and old bocce enthusiasts while raising money and awareness for the High Fives Foundation and the many athletes it supports,” said Katherine Jones, director of sales and marketing, Truckee River Winery. “We are big bocce fans and love the spirit of this tournament because of the teams’ unique and creative names, their costumes and their attitudes.”
Teams of two are highly recommended to dress in themed costumes.
Expected local winter action sports athletes in attendance include: JT Holmes, Nate Holland, and Michelle Parker. Expected High Fives Foundation Winter Empowerment Fund Athletes in attendance include Jake Hickman, Grant Korgan, and Danny Toumarkine
Money raised will support a variety of High Fives endeavors such as the purchase of rehabilitative and adaptive equipment as well as funding for alternative healing and therapies.
Participants will enjoy fine wine from the Truckee River Winery, as well as food from the Full Belly Deli, Cabot Creamery Cooperative and Mamasake Squaw, Sunday, Sept. 23.
