Help save Incline Elementaryand#8217;s physical education program

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — It’s that time of year again, a time when Incline Elementary students, parents, staff and the community declare their love and dedication for keeping the physical education program and its instructor, Michael Smith.

IES is unique in that it is the only public elementary school in Nevada with such a program, enhancing our educational system and students’ lives every day. However, Washoe County School District does not fund this program, so the students and their parents, the staff and the community raise the necessary funds.

The most significant physical education program fundraiser is right around the corner. Coming up on Friday, Sept. 21, the IES field will be covered with runners, walkers and even skippers dedicated to fulfilling their role in keeping the program going. The Jog-A-Thon is an all-day event with every student participating.

Until then, students and staff are asking you to donate what you can to help. Donations can be made in any amount more than $5 and can be given to any student or parent.

You can also donate online at justgive.org/nonprofits/donate.jsp?ein=88-0328006, where you can designate your donation to “Jog-A-Thon.” Corporate donations are also being sought, which are tax-deductible and include free advertising on the day of the Jog-A-Thon.

Thank you for your continued support in helping the students at IES as they strive toward their $50,000 goal.

Special to the Bonanza
