Incline tennis | Girls split against Damonte Ranch, Fallon

The Incline girls tennis team split its last two matches, losing in a tiebreaker to Damonte Ranch and beating Fallon 10-8 in an exciting match.

Against Fallon, the match came down to Toby Felman beating the No. 1 player from Fallon 6-4 and Ginetta Sagan beating the Greenwave’s No. 2 singles player 6-4 in the final rotation.

“It is great to see these two kids come up big with the match on the line,” said Incline coach Jim Giancola.

Anne Schrage (14-1) continued her winning ways, winning all three of her matches, and Tara Lincoln and Amanda Pretti won two of three to contribute critical points to the win.

The Damonte match, which has come down to tiebreakers the past two years, had some great matches. Most notable was Incline’s No. 3 singles player, Sagan, beating Damonte Ranch’s No. 1 player in the final round to send the match to tiebreakers.

Sagan came up big in the final round to send it to tiebreakers, but a short-handed Incline team had to default No. 3 doubles and lost the tiebreaker 4-2.

UP NEXT: Incline competes next at the Plumas courts against a strong Bishop Manogue team on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. The girls then host Galena on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 3 p.m.
