Throughout the summer, classic cars have rolled into the basin for car shows across the lake. On Thursday, a group of eight Corvettes took to the streets as a sort of reunion.
"We met in downtown Chicago in 2008," Corvette owner and lead driver Bob Behlman said. "In 2009 we drove along the Pacific Coast. Last year we took a road trip along the Mississippi River."
This time, instead of taking a long trip, the group decided to meet at Lake Tahoe for a week. They're staying in an eight-bedroom home in Tahoe Donner, Behlman said. The list of items on their agenda include a visit to Gold Country and trips to the Reno Air Races and Virginia City.
The Corvettes in the group are all second-generation Corvetttes made between 1963 and 1967, Behlman said. The owners hail from Arkansas, Arizona, California, Illinois, Minnesota and New York.
"We all enjoy each other's company, we share a passion for these cars, and we enjoy traveling together," Behlman said. "And the guys are all very knowledgeable with these cars, so if we have problems, we can generally fix them while we're on the road."
