Heavenly eyes Nov. 16 opening date

Heavenly Mountain Resort is planning on opening for winter operations Nov. 16, according to a Wednesday statement from the ski area.

The 2012-2013 ski season is expected to include the return of a half-pipe to the resort following a four-year hiatus. The 18-foot tall, 56-foot wide, 500-foot long pipe will be built in the resort's High Roller Terrain Park and will be constucted by Snow Park Technologies and terrain park staff. The orientation of the pipe will allow for a uniform consistency on both sides, acccording to the statement.

The resort's Gunbarrel Grill, inside Lakeview Lodge at the top the Tram, will also feature a new menu this year. Flat screen TVs, gourmet burgers and a large selection of microbrewed beer will be offered at the grill, according to the statement.
