Incline girls golf | Devi Meyers opens season with back-to-back wins

Competing against North Tahoe and Yerington, the Incline girls golf team won its first two tournaments of the season in recent weeks.

Most recently, the Highlanders finished 62 strokes ahead of the Lakers in a tournament held at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City last Thursday, Sept. 13. On Sept. 6, they finished 42 stokes ahead of North Tahoe at Walker Lake Golf Course in Hawthorne.

At Eagle Valley, Incline posted a low score of 462 to North Tahoe’s 524 and Yerington’s 552. Devi Meyers led the Highlanders by carding a 98. Lauren Keller shot a 112, Brooke Ruhl a 121, Tori Findlen a 131 and Kailee Harbaugh a 143.

Kylie Daniels led North Tahoe with a 116 and Emily Irvine led Yerington with a 122.

Meyers also posted the low score at Walker Lake with an 85, which marked the first win for the sophomore. That helped lead Incline to the win with a low score of 422. North Tahoe was second at 464 and Yerington third at 509.

Harbaugh shot a personal-best 106, which was good enough for third place individually at the tournament, while Keller shot a 115, Ruhl a 116 and Findlen a 134.

Isabelle Schenone carded a 107 to lead North Tahoe, and Irvine shot a 103 to lead the Lions.

“It looks like North Tahoe and Incline will be competitive throughout the season,” said Incline head coach Joe Humasti, adding that his girls have spent a lot of time practicing their short game.
