Incline suffered its first loss of the season, 34-0, in a Division III football game at undefeated Yerington on Friday.

First-year Incline head coach Scott Conn said the Highlanders performed well in many facets of the game, but they fell short by committing five turnovers and allowing a number of big pass plays on defense.

and#8220;It was good meeting the No. 1 team in the league on their turf,and#8221; said Conn, whose team is now 3-1 overall and 2-1 in league play. and#8220;It was a good measuring stick for us.and#8221;

Yerington (5-0 overall, 2-0 league) led 7-0 after one quarter and 20-0 at the half before adding a touchdown in both the third and fourth quarters.

The Lions used a deep passing attack to account for four of their five touchdowns, averaging 38 yards per passing score. Yeringtonand#8217;s Sam Monahan also had a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown, his second of the game.

and#8220;They (the Lions) are pretty much all juniors and seniors, and they have a big, experienced defense, and with 20 kids on the sideline,and#8221; said Conn, who has 17 players total on his roster, including four freshmen and three sophomores. and#8220;So Iand#8217;m proud of the kids. They gave Yerington a good battle. But Iand#8217;m disappointed we couldnand#8217;t get our offense in the end zone. We were knocking on the door, but we kept shooting ourselves in the foot.and#8221;

Conn said Yeringtonand#8217;s large linemen pressured Incline quarterback Christian Biscotti throughout the game, forcing him into two interceptions. Biscotti finished 6-of-19 for 75 yards. Senior fullback Sean Herrera carried the load on the ground, rushing for 91 yards on 16 carries.

Incline ran 59 offensive plays to Yeringtonand#8217;s 46, but converted only 1-of-12 on third-down plays while losing three fumbles.

and#8220;While we had a lot of plays, we just couldnand#8217;t get any consistency,and#8221; Conn said. and#8220;We need to develop more consistency and focus. If we have aspirations to make the playoffs, we have to compete with these bigger schools.and#8221;
