TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Truckee Running Cluband#8217;s Dan Jenkins placed seventh overall, and first in the 40-50 year age division, at the Marin Headlands Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run, held Sept. 15 and 16 across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. The race featured four 25-mile laps on a very hilly course (20,068 feet of climbing) and was held in mild day-time temperatures mixed with heavy night-time coastal fog that produced limited visibility. Jenkins ran a final time of 26 hrs., 57 min., 56 sec. and#8212; 1 hour and 8 minutes faster than his 2010 effort on the same course.

and#8220;This was my 12th ultra-marathon and just my second 100-miler, so I continue to find ways to cut time, run with less gear and manage the nutrition side of the equation. As with all long trail runs, though, itand#8217;s not about the start/finish, itand#8217;s about the people youand#8217;re with and the journey along the way. My crew was awesome out there, in tough night-time conditions. We decided to do this 100-miler just a few weeks before the start, so for them to just jump in and do the job they did, it was great to be a part of,and#8221; said Jenkins.

Jenkins was paced the final 25 miles by fellow Truckee Running Club member and local ultrarunner, JP Prince. Crew members included Truckee resident Roger Rintala, Dave Kascht of Sunnyvale, and Jenkinsand#8217; sister Laurie Jenkins Fahy of Martinez.
