Saw the news flash regarding last Friday nightand#8217;s DUI checkpoint in Truckee. Itand#8217;s too bad that whenever you have a story about an upcoming checkpoint that you canand#8217;t also remind people, as a public service, that a) there are no mass transportation options into and out of Truckee until 12:30 a.m. on a Friday night and b) if you leave your car anywhere downtown, do the right thing, and take a cab home, your car will be towed and impounded at great expense.

All your article reminds us is that a situation exists which deliberately puts public safety at risk, in a downtown open until 2 a.m., and that law enforcement agencies and an unscrupulous towing and impounding company capitalize on it. Real civilized stuff.
