TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; On Oct. 6, the Sierra Green Building Association (SiGBA) is having their much anticipated annual Green Building Tour. This yearand#8217;s tour features four sites, commercial and residential, each with their own unique approach to low-impact design, construction, and occupant lifestyle.

The end user and/or design professional involved in the building of each site will take you through the space, highlighting the major benchmarks of sustainable design. These will include site design, resource conservation, responsible material use and disposal, indoor environmental quality, and efficient operations, focusing on innovative and non-traditional techniques used to reach these benchmarks. If you have ever wondered how you might apply some of the basic (and extraordinary) green applications to your home, these sites will inspire and captivate you.

Along with residential sites, the building tour will also visit the first introduction of a commercial building on the tour. You will be led through the Truckee Airport Administration Building, which is a new landmark for Truckee with an impressive list of high-performance features.

The Truckee community has long been a little-known hub for green building innovation. SiGBA was founded in 2003 to help recognize, celebrate and promote the communityand#8217;s innovations and leadership in environmental building practices. The fall home tour has been a longstanding community event where homeowners, designers, and building professionals get together and share their innovative building methods.

The cost of the tour is $25 for SiGBA Business Members and $35 for non-members. Tickets include transportation to the sites and a bagged lunch. The tour leaves from the old middle school 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 6. Space on the tour is limited. Purchase your tickets today at www.sigba.org.
