National Association of Professional Women launches local chapter

RENO, Nev. — The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) announced the association has launched an NAPW chapter in Reno, Nev. to promote networking among business women from northern Nevada and northern California. It offers professional women located in both Northern California and Nevada the opportunity to network in-person with women colleagues.

The area chapter will be headed by newly appointed NAPW President Mimi Garner, president of Sierra Adventures, Inc., a small business consulting and marketing firm. Mimi Garner is a long-time resident of Graeagle, Calif. and a local small business owner.

The first meeting of the Reno Chapter will be a luncheon event Oct. 4 at the Siena Hotel Spa Casino at 11:30 a.m. RSVP required by emailing NAPWReno@gmail.com. Cost of luncheon is $25. Guest speaker will be the Honorable Judge Jim Gray, Libertarian Party United States Vice Presidential candidate who will speak about small business issues facing professional women and current issues facing the country.

NAPW provides on-line seminars, pod casts, webinars, educational tools and is organized to help foster networking and career development skills that enable members to achieve personal and career success.

“Through the NAPW website, members can network with other women, research, uncover and review professional and social issues and opportunities that can materially impact business development, career advancement and their social well-being,” said Cindy Burns, NAPW’s national director of Local Chapters.

“Local chapters are being organized to enhance the NAPW experience by encouraging members to go beyond the benefits offered through the NAPW website,” noted Burns. “By meeting face-to-face with area members, women who take advantage of the local chapters can now, more aggressively, share business and related challenges, explore opportunities and solutions and, collectively tap resources that might not be available to individuals who are not affiliated with an organized group, such as NAPW.”

To date, NAPW has more than 300,000 members throughout the United States.

“I am thrilled and honored to be heading up the newest NAPW chapter and look forward to being a part of the growth of the association in the Reno area,” said Garner. “The on-line benefits offered by NAPW are helpful to me and to other members I’ve networked with. But I’m confident that the additional face-to-face exposure to area members and the greater sense of camaraderie that is sure to evolve through regular attendance at our local meetings, Reno chapter members will soon be experiencing a new, higher level of value and satisfaction.”

Professional women who are interested in joining the Reno Local Chapter of the NAPW should contact Mimi Garner at 530-836-1225. For more information please go to www.NAPW.com.
