Candy Dance to take place this weekend

Genoa will host its 92nd Annual Candy Dance festival this weekend.

The festival will take place Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature art, crafts, food, homemade candy, a dinner dance, a wine pavilion and child-friendly activities such as face painting, games and rides.

The Candy Dance Faire continues a tradition begun in 1919 by Genoa's women, led by Lillian Virgin Finnegan, to raise money to purchase street lights for the town. The women sold their homemade candy during the day and hosted a gourmet dinner and dancing in the evening. Today revenue from the event supports the majority of the town's operations and historic buildings.

Admission is free and parking will be available in designated lots for $5. For more information, call the Town of Genoa at 775-782-8696 and at
