On Youth Soccer Night this past Thursday, both Incline soccer teams defeated visiting Whittell, the boys by a 3-1 score and the girls 4-0.
In a contentious boys game, Incline senior Drew Bessette put the Highlanders on the board with a goal assisted by Fernando Martinez in the 21st minute. Kyle Reeves gave the hosts a 2-0 lead just before the half off an assist by Hugo Garcia.
Mark Waite scored the Warriors' lone goal in the 67th minute on a penalty kick before Bessette scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Marlon Correa, 3 minutes later to put the game away.
The Incline boys are now 3-1 in Mount Rose League play and 8-5-1 overall. Whittell is 1-2 in league and 13-2 overall.
The Highlanders carried a 1-0 lead into halftime of the girls game before adding three insurance goals in the second.
Incline freshman Vanessa Andrade scored the first of her two goals in the 36th minute, assisted by Haley Derr. Andrade scored once again in the 71st minute.
Elise Nelson pushed the lead to 3-0 with a goal in the 77th minute, assisted by Andrade, while Misha Gehring rounded out the scoring in the 79th with an assist from Caroline May.
The Incline girls improved to 2-2 in league and 11-4 overall. Whittell is 0-2-1 in league and 11-3-1 overall.
