Firefighters from Lake Valley Fire Protection District and the U.S. Forest Service extinguished a wildfire near Luther Pass Tuesday afternoon.

The fire started about 2:15 p.m. south of Big Meadow Trailhead on Highway 89 and spread to about half an acre before being extinguished, according to a release from the U.S. Forest Service.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
