The Incline soccer teams split their Mount Rose League games at Sparks on Tuesday, with the girls winning 4-0 and the boys losing 8-3.
In the girls game, freshman Vanessa Andrade opened the scoring in the 12th minute off an assist from Kayla Goldberg, giving the Highlanders a 1-0 lead they held through the half.
Haley Derr extended the lead to 2-0 in the 50th minute, assisted by Hannah Johnson, while Alondra Luna scored off an assist from Derr in the 53rd minute, and Derr scored assisted by Elise Nelson in the 60th minute to round out the offense.
Incline improved to 3-2 in Mount Rose League play and 12-4 overall.
The Incline boys played a solid first half against the defending state champions, trailing only 2-1 entering the midway point. But the Railroaders heated up and scored four goals within a 15-minute span in the second half to pull away.
The Railroaders' Ruben Pacheco opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Incline answered in the eighth minute with a goal by Erick Rodriguez assisted by Luis Munoz. Sparks took a 2-1 lead in the 18th minute, then added to the lead with goals in the 44th, 54th, 59th, 61st and 72nd minutes, ending any hopes of an upset.
Incline finished with two late goals from Stephan Schied in the 75th minute, assisted by Hugo Garcia, and a goal by Garcia in the 80th minute assisted by Salvador Vargas.
The Highlanders are now 3-2 in league and 8-6-1 overall.
