Tahoe Arts Project will kick off its 26th season with Presidio Brass Friday, Oct. 5, at the South Tahoe High School Theater.
Presidio Brass is a brass chamber music ensemble from San Diego, Calif., that came together to promote music educaion and appreciation in the next generation. It plays a repertoire written specifically for the ensemble and has performed in more than 30 states. Since Monday, it has performed for students as part of Tahoe Arts Project's annual performing arts in the schools program.
Members of Presidio Brass have performed with major symphony orchestras, including the London Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonicand can be heard on soundtracks ranging from video games to major motion pictures. To date, Presidio Brass has released three recordings: "Stolen Moments," a collection of popular classical and jazz selections; "Christmas Day," an assortment of well-known holiday favorites; and their newest recording of popular film music, "Sounds of the Cinema."
The performance will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children and can be purchased in advance at the California and Nevada Visitors Center.
