Obituary: Norma Pauline Wilson

Norma Pauline Wilson passed away peacefully Saturday, Sept. 22 surrounded by family at her home in Carnelian Bay, Calif.

Norma was born to Irl and Peg Fewell on Jan. 4, 1924 in Wainwright, Alberta, Canada.

Raised on ranches and farms throughout Northern California she moved to Southern California with her parents during World War II. During the war she worked as a fashion model and dance teacher at Arthur Murray Studios. After the War she met her husband Guy Wilson at the Aragon Ballroom in Santa Monica. On March 23, 1949 she and Guy married in Modesto, Calif.

Together they started a family and moved to Carnelian Bay from San Jose in the summer of 1957 when Guy joined the staff at Tahoe Truckee High School as a teacher, coach and later Dean of Students. As with many of the North Shore residents she worked at the 1960 Winter Olympics in the Transportation Department. She was also a member of the Women's Social Club known as the "Tahoe Squaws" where she met many of her lifelong friends.

Known to family and friends as the life of the party, she often entertained them with songs and colorful stories.

She is survived by her husband, Guy of Carnelian Bay; daughter Shelley Wilson of Verdi, Nev.; son Scott Wilson of Carnelian Bay; daughter in law, Charney Risner-Wilson of Vista, Calif.; her brother Jim Fewell of Marin County; grandchildren Delaney Risner-Wilson of Carlsbad, Calif.; Dustin King (wife Jamie) of Reno, Nev.; Haylee Fox (husband Tom) of Santa Cruz, Calif.; great grandchildren Kai Schmid, Frankie Rae King, Rocco King and her newest great granddaughter Remington Fox. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister Eva Perez in 1998.
