Public workshop next Tuesday on future of Hwy 28 corridor

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The Tahoe Transportation District is hosting two more public workshops to provide information and gather questions and opinions regarding a plan to create a National Scenic Byway on Highway 28 between Incline Village and U.S. Highway 50 intersection.

The workshops will be held in Reno/Sparks, Incline Village and Carson City in an effort to obtain significant public participation, according to a press release on behalf of the Tahoe Transportation District.

Representatives of the district, along with partners from Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Division of State Parks and Nevada Highway Patrol, will be on hand at the meetings to talk about the National Scenic Byway, aimed at "creating a ridge-to-shoreline plan that will help keep Lake Tahoe's waters clear, improve safety and offer convenient access to outdoor recreation," according to the press release.

Two meetings took place Tuesday in Reno; the remaining schedule is as follows:

• Thursday, Oct. 4, from 5 -7:30 p.m., Carson City Community Center-Bonanza Room, 851 E. William St.; Carson City.

Tuesday, Oct. 9, 5 -7:30 p.m.. The Chateau at Incline Village. 955 Fairway Boulevard.

According to TTD, attendees and non-attendees will be able to provide comments in real time via a web-based software program.
