Forest Service facilities to close for the season

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit annual closure of recreational facilities around the Lake Tahoe Basin has begun.

Recreation sites in the Basin are managed and operated by both concessionaires and the Forest Service. Tahoe Recreation sites will close on Sunday, Oct. 14. These sites include Nevada Beach, Fallen Leaf, Bayview, Meeks Bay, William Kent and Kaspian campgrounds and Nevada, Pope, Baldwin, Meeks Bay, William Kent and Kaspian beaches. Camp Richardson, Roundhill Pines and Zephyr Cove resorts remain open year-round.

Campgrounds and day-use areas traditionally close around mid-October. While forest roads typically close around mid-November, visitors may consult the Motor Vehicle Use Map for specific dates by visiting The Taylor Creek Visitor Center will remain open through October.
