Five local restaurants will donate a portion of their profits to the Tahoe Area Coordinating Council for the Disabled.
October was chosen for the annual fundraising events to highlight October as Disability Awareness and Employment month. In honor of TACCD's 31st anniversary, five restaurants and one local event will donate to the organization. Jalisco Grill, located at 2660 Lake Tahoe Blvd., kicked off the efforts Wednesday, Oct. 11. Upcoming events include breakfast and lunch at Ernie's Cafe, 1207 Emerald Bay Road, on Oct. 16; lunch and dinner at Passaretti's, 1181 Emerald Bay Road on Oct. 17; lunch, dinner and a City Council candidates meet and greet from 6-8 pm. at at Steamers, 2236 Lake Tahoe Blvd.; and Taqueria Jalisco, 3097 Harrison Ave., behind Rojo's, on Oct. 25. Each restaurant will donate a portion of its income. Members of the Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra's Aktion Club will also assist TACCD in selling hot dogs to raise money during the annual Treat Street safe-Halloween, which will be held at the Pine Cone Motel at 735 Emerald Bay Road, on Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m.
The contributions and money collected will increase TACCD's funding base to make sure important services such as these continue at the same high level: develop low-income housing, make the city more accessible, work with the city on its transition plan to become fully ADA compliant, and to continue efforts to encourage return of reliable transportation.
Any other businesses interested in participating can contact David Kelly at 530-544-1127.
Donations can be mailed to TACCD, 2572 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Suite 2, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 or be left, along with the donor's name and phone number, with the business owner at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Each $25 direct donation to TACCD in the amount of $25 will earn the donor an entry into a drawing for a helicopter flight for two from the South Lake Tahoe Airport and over Emerald Bay.
