Traffic on 28 will be stopped for Friday Homecoming parade

INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Incline High School's Homecoming Week is upon us. Throughout the week of October 15-19, Incline High School students have and will continue to participate in "Decades" themed Dress-up Days (Monday, 1950s; Tuesday, 1960s; Wednesday, 1970s; Thursday, 1980s; and Friday, Green and Gold).

Also during the week were and are daily activities during lunchtime connected to the "Decades" theme (Monday, Musical chairs; Tuesday, Flower Power Relay Race, Wednesday, Name that 70s Jeopardy, Thursday, Dance Competition; and Friday, Final Competitions at the morning assembly).

On Friday afternoon, the Homecoming Parade will begin at 2 p.m. from Alder Boulevard and travel from the west side of town (Northwood Boulevard) along Highway 28 until entering the third driveway into the Raley's Shopping Center. The parade will re-enter Village Boulevard, passing Incline Elementary School and ending in the lower parking lot of IHS. Highway 28 will be closed to through traffic during the parade.

During the halftime of the Homecoming football game Friday night, the homecoming court will be recognized, and the King and Queen (seniors) will be crowned and biographical information will be read. Immediately following the football game is the Homecoming Dance to be held in the small gym until 11 p.m.

After the parade on Friday, the themed floats will be showcased on the IHS football field for spectators to determine the "Best Float of Homecoming 2012."

Anyone interested in supporting IHS and the class-decorated floats need only to log on to the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza website at www.tahoebonanza.com and vote in the online poll, which will be up by end of day Monday, Oct. 22.

The poll will run for two weeks after Homecoming Week, and the winning float (class) will receive $150 toward its class account for future events and purchases.
