Obituary: Opposed to vets hall sale to Tahoe Forest Church

I want to inform the TDPRD board members that I am categorically opposed to the sale of the Veterans Hall to the Tahoe Forest Church to any other entity unless that entity be a nonprofit organization of U.S. military veterans.

This proposal to re-purpose the hall is an absolute slap in the face to those of us who have served in our nation's armed forces as well as the survivors of those who died in service to our country. I am also opposed to the town's proposed Use Permit/Right-of-Way Abandonment for the Tahoe Forest Church to acquire this property.

The town is complicit in this insult in that its "courtesy notice" is titled referencing the Tahoe Forest Church, thus obfuscating the fact it involves the vets hall. I am a Truckee resident of 35 years standing, a registered voter, a Truckee homeowner and property taxpayer.

Has anyone on the Town of Truckee's or Park and Rec's legal staffs looked into the Covenants, Conditions and Restriction that attach to this property? As I understand it this property and building were originally funded specifically for a veterans hall and veterans usage and I suspect there might be some deeded restrictions.

I close this missive with an assurance that I will vote against any member of the Truckee Donner Parks and Recreation District and Town of Truckee Council member who votes to allow this affront to proceed to completion.
