With the presidential debates over, it's now time to vote for the best candidate. I'm voting for President Barack Obama.
The last debate showed that Mr Romney isn't qualified when it comes to foreign policy. Neither is running mate Paul Ryan. The most important job the president has is to defend the U.S. from attack. It takes more than having a strong military force. It also takes working with allies to solve world problems. President Obama has shown he can develop collations and international support. Seventeen of Mr Romney's 24 foreign policy advisors worked for George W. Bush, advocating for the war in Iraq. That's scary to me.
The Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, is good legislation. Taking $716 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare actually extended its solvency by eight years. Mr. Romney wants to repeal Obamacare which will make Medicare less secure according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
I also support the women's issues of choice, contraception and equal pay. The conservatives want to overturn Roe v. Wade, thus making abortions illegal. Mr. Romney said he would sign legislation, if elected, ending legal abortions. Younger people need to understand that outlawing abortions does not end abortions. It just moves them from medical clinics to the back alley, putting the woman's life in danger. Contraception is an economic issue, allowing women to choose when they want children while also preventing some women's health problems. President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Act. Does Mr. Romney support equal pay? He hasn't said when asked.
Mr. Romney says he will create 12 million jobs. How will he do that when he doesn't seem to believe government can work for the betterment of society. President Obama has worked to turn the economy around and things are better today than four years ago.
