INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Joshua C. Phillips, a 2008 graduate from Incline High School, recently completed basic combat training in Ft. Benning, Ga.
While in basic training, Phillips qualified as "Expert Shooter" shooting 38 out of 40 targets with his M-16 that ranged from 50 to 300 meters away. Private First Class Phillips graduated with Echo Company 2-47 on July 3, 2012.
Phillips continued his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) with Echo Company 3-81 in Ft. Benning and is now certified as a 91M Bradley fighting vehicle maintainer.
During his AIT, Phillips earned the "Iron Man" Award with a PT score of 329 out of a possible 300 points. Phillips graduated AIT on October 4, 2012.
Because of his accomplishments, Phillips was assigned "home town recruiting" in Reno, NV, and has enjoyed his visit at home with family and friends.
Phillips will be stationed in South Korea at Camp Casey for one year beginning November 1st where he plans to go to school and work on his bachelor's degree.
