Tahoe League for Charity Luncheon and Speaker Series continues

TAHOE CITY, Calif. - Tahoe League for Charity held their October Luncheon and Speaker Series Oct. 8, 2012 at Jake's on the Lake. The featured speakers for October were Nancy Gisko and Marilyn Disbrow who shared information about the award-winning Aim High Program that finished its extremely successful inaugural year in Tahoe/Truckee. Aim High is a high-quality challenging five-week summer enrichment program with an emphasis on academic and leadership skills for middle-school age students. The mission of Aim High is to inspire a deep love of learning through an engaging and intensive curriculum and instill a sense of community, opportunity and respect in its students. Generous donations from individual donors and local community foundations have made Tahoe's Aim High program tuition-free, including transportation and healthy lunches for all participants for three years.

The November Grant Awards Luncheon meeting will be held on Nov. 12, at 11:30 a.m. at Jake's on the Lake. Tahoe League for Charity will award six grants to local nonprofit organizations. Representatives from each of these organizations will be present to share there goals and how they plan to utilize the granted funds. Guests and potential members are welcome to attend. Please call 530-525-7579 to make reservations. Cost of the luncheon is $17. The Board meeting will precede the luncheon, starting at 10 a.m.

Tahoe League for Charity is a social and a nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to benefit the communities of North Lake Tahoe and Truckee by providing scholarships to local high school students and grants to other nonprofit organizations.
