TRUCKEE, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol in partnership with Save Mart in Truckee teamed up to help provide a safe Halloween trick or treating environment for area children. The CHP set up a booth and with the help of Sgt. Randy Fisher, Officer Pete Mann, the dedicated members of the CHP Truckee Senior Volunteer Program and of course Chipper (the CHP Mascot) handed out candy to more than 800 local area kids. The candy give away is part of an annual event held in the Gateway residential area of Truckee, which gives youth the ability to trick or treat in an area of town where houses are walking distance from one another. Residents in the Gateway area go all in during Halloween creating haunted houses, elaborate Halloween displays and by all estimations handing out over $200 in candy per house hold.
