TRUCKEE, Calif. - Reno artist Giovanni Sabatini will showcase his artistry at Art Obsessions Gallery & Wine Bar Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10 and 11.Sabatini classifies himself as an impressionist, working in both oil and acrylic, focusing mainly on landscapes and scenes with a story. Although he attended art school in the early 70s, Sabatini, a chemist by trade, became inspired when former chemistry professor and famed Carmel Plein Aire artist Joseph Nordmann encouraged him to take up painting. After numerous lessons, Sabatini considers Nordmann his mentor and toughest critic. "Nordmann told me to take off my glasses, shut up and start painting," said Sabatini. What started out as a fun hobby developed into a full-time passion. Sabatini sums up his works as, "The best creations are by accident - void of too much thought - more by feeling, color and chance."Wine and appetizers will be served to compliment your art experience.Jewelry trunk show announcedDebbie Jensen, Northern California jewelry artist is coming to Art Obsessions Gallery and Wine Bar for a "Trunk Show" Saturday, Nov. 10, 2-6 p.m. Her jewelry designs are nature inspired works of art.
