Food distribution for Nevada residents to take place

The Department of Agriculture will distribute food to Nevada residents in the Tahoe basin on Thursday, Nov. 15.

The distribution will take place from 9-10 a.m. at the Tahoe Douglas Senior Center, 885 Highway 50, just north of the Tahoe Douglas fire station near Warrior way.

Commodities to be distributed include dry beans, pasta, frozen meat, canned fruit and vegetables and juices. Nevada residents must show identification and sign an affirmation of income below 150 percent of the federal poverty level. An income of less than $1,361 per month for one person qualifies. No proof of income is required.

Those who attend are asked to bring boxes or bags to carry items for their household. Preference for past participants will determine the quantity of some commodities. The next distribution will be held Jan. 24.
