Students get an up-close look at snow removal operations

The City of South Lake Tahoe's Public Works Snow Removal Operation recently visited Sierra House Elementary Schools kindergarten and first grade classes to promote snow safety.

Street Supervisor Azril Kalik shared important safety reminders to Ms. Wilson and Ms. Tabor's first-graders.

"When you see the snow removal machines in your neighborhood, it's important to go inside and play to remain safe. Remember to keep toys, sleds, shovels and your pets out of the road so they do not get damaged," Kalik told the children.

Other important safety tips are for students to remain at the bus stop and to not play in the streets throughout the year and for students to wear their seat belts at all times when traveling in vehicles.

A snow motor grader and a snow blower were on site for students to view and go inside of after the classroom presentation. Presentations were also scheduled for Bijou, Tahoe Valley, and Environmental Science Magnet elementary schools.
