CRYSTAL BAY, Nev. - Portland's Fruition will return to Tahoe for a free Crystal Bay Casino Crown Room performance Friday, Nov. 17.The bluegrass band played the Red Room in May. It also opened for Hot Buttered Rum at South Shore during that tour before returning for a July 5 show at Lakeview Commons, South Lake Tahoe's answer to Tahoe City's Commons Beach.Comprised of Kellen Asebroek (guitar, mandolin, vocals), Mima Naja (banjo, mandolin, guitar, vocals), Jay Cobb Anderson (guitar, harmonica vocals), Keith Simon (upright bass) and Tyler Thompson (drums), Fruition formed in 2008, minus Thompson, who joined the group last year. Fruition met on the Rip City scene, where Asebroek with Naja and Anderson with Simon were playing as separate duos. "We started out playing on the streets," Asebroek said. "When we joined forces, we realized we had pretty good vocal harmonies, and decided to become a band." A regular act around Portland, Fruition headlined two late-night shows at the 2011 Northwest String Summit in North Plains, Ore. last summer. Fruition released its third album in a year ago, "It Won't Be Long." with seven original songs. Two more albums are in the works presently, Fruition's fourth studio album and a side project with fellow Portland musician Brad Parsons. Through the years the band has had the privilege to play with the likes of Vince Herman and Andy Thorne (Left Over Salmon), Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band), Zach Gill and Dan Lebowitz (ALO & Jack Johnson), Daniel Stern, Danny Barnes and the Dead Winter Carpenters.
