Letter to the Editor: Thanks for the biggest and best chocolate fest to date

The 24th Annual Chocolate, Wine & Roses Festival on November 3rd was a financial success. We would like to thank all of the community members that came out to show their support and raise more than $116,000 for Tahoe SAFE Alliance and Project MANA. Specifically, we would like to thank the Munson Family Foundation for the $20,000 Challenge Match Grant which enabled us to raise an additional $25,000 from the community for programs that help keep Tahoe safe, healthy, and fed.Putting on an event of this caliber requires the talent, time, and dedication of staff, volunteers and community members who work closely together towards one goal. It gives me great pleasure to recognize the planning committee who dedicated thousands of hours over the past six months to put on the biggest and best Chocolate, Wine & Roses Festival to date. The committee members include Auction Co-Chairs: Debbie Nicholas & Sherry Kleinam; Chocolatier Co-Chairs: Judith Buckingham & Lee Kresy; Decorations Chair, Lindsay Bourgeois; Entertainment Chair, Heidi Allstead; Judge Chair, Jackie Dontcho; Logistics Chair, Karen Osborne; Sponsorship Chair, Dina Marshal; Volunteer Chair, Kristy Oriol; and Winery Co-Chairs, Karin Paris & Alex Doczy.I would especially like to recognize Plant Works Reno and Shirley Hart for donating all of the tropical silk flowers and trees, as well as their highly competent and dedicated designer staff. It is only because of their generosity, support, and time that were able to create a lush tropical landscape reminiscent of Havana. Thank you Lindsay at Bourgeois Interior Design for working with Plant Works and executing our vision.Thank you to Linda and Richard Offerdahl and Dress the Part(y) for their signature sponsorship and continued support of this important fundraiser. A special thank you to all of our sponsors that contributed to the financial success of Chocolate, Wine & Roses. And of course, I would like to give recognition to the more than 40 dedicated volunteers who took time out of their busy lives to help put on this event.Dawn Harris Tahoe SAFE Alliance
