To get in the game, just purchase a raffle ticket, or two or as many as you desire. All proceeds benefit the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center (GUMTFCC). Each raffle ticket is $100, and only 300 tickets will be sold. The all-ages premiere will cost a donation of $5, with all proceeds going to the CR Johnson Healing Center - a program service of the High Fives Foundation. Doors will open for the show at 7 p.m. with the premiere kicking off at 9 p.m. Following "Sunny," attendees will have the chance to win great raffle prizes from Marker-Volkl, Moment, Rossignol, Under Armour and Armada. The evening festivities will be capped off with beats from Reno's own, DJ Juliet.Truckee Ski Team offers affordable options for all abilitiesRegistration is being accepted for the Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District's Truckee Ski Team. The Truckee Ski team has a program for skiers of all ages and all ability levels. There are two programs offered by the Truckee Ski Team. They are the Buddy Werner Development Program for ages 5-14 and the Tahoe League Race Program for ages 8-17.The Buddy Werner Development Program is designed for the beginning skier to the entry level competitor. Ski development and fun are stressed. Prior skiing experience is not required.The program consists of 13 days to Soda Springs plus ski away days to Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows and Homewood. The program meets on Sundays starting Dec. 9. There are five fun races included. Price is $235. Price includes season pass to Soda Springs, all ski away days, sweatshirt and awards. Thousands of skiers have been introduced to skiing at an affordable cost through the Buddy Werner Program.The Tahoe League Race Program is an advanced racing program where skiers compete against racers from other ski areas. The program meets on Saturdays and Sundays starting Dec. 1. Price is $280. Price includes season pass to Soda Springs, ski away days to Sugar Bowl, Homewood and Alpine Meadows and sweatshirt. There is an additional fee for all Tahoe League Races. Last season the Truckee Ski Team had 50 percent of their skiers finish in the top 10 in their age group at a fraction of the cost of other competing ski programs.Skiers without racing experience should sign up for the Buddy Werner Development Program but can advance to the Tahoe League Program with the coach's approval.For more information or to register call 530-582-7720.Auburn Ski Club seeking instructorsThe local nonprofit Auburn Ski Club located on Donner Summit is looking for cross-country ski instructors for their 1-2-3 ski program. The program runs on Thursdays and Fridays from January through March, fine weather days only, 8:30 a.m-1 p.m. You do not have to be a great skier. Give back to the next generation of skiers and get paid to do so! Lots of satisfaction and cool memories of helping children learn to ski.
