TRUCKEE, Calif. - If you have happened to drive by the corner of Donner Pass Road and Northwoods Boulevard recently, you will have noticed quite a lot of action happening there. The old, dilapidated gray building that sat abandoned for more than 10 years has finally been torn down to make room for what will be the brand new office location for Dickson Realty.
This popular corner, located at the base and entrance to Tahoe Donner, was first used in the early 1970s as the sales office for Dart Industries, the developer of Tahoe Donner. Subsequently, the location was used by Boice Countryside Realtors. Having been empty for more than a decade and seeing a golden opportunity for a fantastic location, Dickson owners, the Schaller Family, Ron Hemig and their Reno partners, purchased the parcel out of bankruptcy and closed escrow this fall.
"Don and I really boosted our real estate careers when we joined Boice Countryside Realtors in 1990 at this great location. We are so excited to be coming full circle," said Lil Schaller, broker/co-owner of Dickson.
Jamie Lamoureux of Lamoureux Construction was responsible for the tear down of the current building. In an effort to stay green, his team was able to recycle more than half of the old structure and completed the demolition in just nine days.
The owners are currently selecting an architect and plan to break ground on the new building in the spring of 2013. The new building will house what are currently two separate office buildings for Dickson. Preliminary plans include both a two-story building for Dickson and two additional single-story "shells" for other business opportunities.
"Our new location at Northwoods and Donner Pass Road makes quite the statement," said Dickson co-owner Ron Hemig. "This strategic corner is among the most visible on Donner Pass Road, while also serving as the gateway to Tahoe Donner. Watch the new Dickson Real Estate Center grow on this premier site!"
