June 29, 1929 - Nov. 11, 2012
Ronald L. Crowe, Sr. crossed over Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at Tamuning hospital in Guam. His journey started June 29, 1929 in San Diego, Calif. After maturing on the sunny coast of California, Ron graduated high school and college in San Diego. He enlisted in naval aviation, completing his training June 27, 1953. Ron's passion for flying was only eclipsed by the love of his life, Dolores (Dee) Schlax, whom he met while stationed in Japan. Dee made a lasting impression, introducing herself at a party by pouring salt into his jacket pocket. Marriage quickly followed. The union produced three children, Ron Jr., Dolores (DD), and Kenneth (Rufus), who love and miss them dearly. They enjoyed their time together, working hard into their 70s, herding wild mustangs with helicopters, fire fighting, and medical evacuation. Ron saved many injured people in the Reno/Tahoe area, from crash victims to injured skiers or lost hikers in the snow. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years. He has four surviving children; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Ron will be laid to rest on the 27th of Nov. 2012. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Eastside Memorial Park. A get together for friends and family will follow.
