Police investigate alleged dognapping attempt

South Lake Tahoe police are investigating an alleged dognapping Friday evening that included a man pulling a knife on another man.

Police responded to the 2700 block of Knox Avenue after a resident in the area reported hearing a man enter his ex-girlfriend's apartment. The neighbor then told police saw the man leaving the apartment with the ex-girlfriend's dog, Lt. David Stevenson said.

The neighbor then confronted the man, who said it was his dog and pulled a knife, according to the neighbor's account. The alleged dognapper then ran away without the dog, Stevenson said.

The case remains under investigation.
