TRUCKEE, Calif. - Truckee beat Durango, Colo., in the first round of POWDER Magazine's Ski Town Throwdown on Facebook last week, pitting Truckee up against Telluride in the second round Dec. 2-3.

Truckee residents and devoted winter visitors can cast their votes on POWDER Magazine's Facebook page to help Truckee make its way to the glory of best ski town in the U.S. The throwdown with Telluride will be followed by a regional final Dec. 10-11, a semifinal Dec. 17-18 and a final round on Dec. 19-20.

The competition is based solely upon Facebook votes. To cast a vote, visit and "like" POWDER Magazine's Facebook page and follow the link to the Ski Town Throwdown, where fans can view the bracket, which includes 16 towns.
