Donations needed for giving tree

The eighth annual Giving Tree is up in the South Lake Tahoe Branch library.

The tree is decorated with holiday wish list ornaments of children who are part of the court system, some of whom may be in foster care or living in a shelter as a result of domestic violence in their families.

To make a donation, select an ornament form the tree and buy the item on the list. Return unwrapped gifts in a bag with the ornament tag secured to it to the library no later than 1 p.m. on Dec. 12 so Santa has time to wrap and deliver presents to the children.

The tree is a result of a partnership between El Dorado County Library, CASA El Dorado and Live Violence Free, formerly known as the South Lake Tahoe Women's Center.
