Incline basketball | Boys win opener against Virginia City

The Incline boys basketball team began its season with a 60-49 win over visiting Virginia City last Tuesday.

The Highlanders got off to a slow start, trailing 17-9 after one quarter. But they bounced back with an improved second quarter to cut the lead to 26-23 entering the half.

Incline then outscored Virginia City 21-9 in the third quarter to take over the lead and pull away.

Six players contributed points to the victory, with sophomore Jack Clouthier leading the way with 19 points on 50 percent shooting.

Sophomore Tommy Thompson scored 12 points and dished out a team-high five assists, Matt Hanna had 10 points and seven rebounds, Christian Biscotti had eight points, seven rebounds and six steals, Drew Bessette had seven points, five rebounds and four steals, and Ben Snyder had four points and nine rebounds.

UP NEXT: The Highlanders are scheduled to host Colfax on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and Wooster on Thursday at 6 p.m.
