Holiday festivities to be held

A tree lighting and other holiday activities will be held Friday at the Lake Tahoe Visitor's Center.

A menorah lighting led by Rabbi Evon Yakar of Temple Bat Yam will take place at 5 p.m., followed by the serving of potato latkes. The Children's Choral Society, led by Paul Kushner, will also perform.

The Christmas tree will be lit after a count down and Santa will arrive on his sleigh. Borges Sleigh Rides will offer free rides, courtesy of the Lake Tahoe Visitor's Authority, starting in front of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum. Tours of the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum and the 1930s log cabin will also be available.

Complimentary hot beverages and cookies will be served inside the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center. Children will also have an opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa. Organizers recommend that parents bring their camera.

Holiday music will also be provided by Derek Tarpey, Lake DJ. Liberty Energy will provide lighting for the trees and buildings.

Guests are asked to bring donations of food, toys and caps for children. The donations will be distributed by Christmas Cheer.

This event is presented by the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, the City of South Lake Tahoe Senior Citizens Center and Liberty Energy.
